Hollow Halloween

FEAR----HORROR---DREAD
TERROR-TREPIDATION-PANIC
TO BE AFRAID

I don't think so!

Not my idea of a splendid Saturday night!

Why does our culture consent to the inundation of nightmarish costumes, customs, and curses? Heart pounding panic, new-fangled phobias permeating your presence. How much sense does this make? Why do we subject ourselves to such madness?

Fear, a self-imposed prison, is lifeless without my participation. I concur that I do not have a spirit of fear. -2 Timothy 1:7. Therefore, Halloween, with all its hallucinogenic properties, is illogical and void in my consciousness. I’d much rather envelop myself with the finer things in life, like the ability to sleep at night and walk around my house alone without a baseball bat.

So, haunt, hurt, and hem yourself in til your heart’s content.
I’ll just relax and enjoy my

Hollow Halloween

Are You Wired?

Currently, there is much controversy surrounding the underwire bra.

Is the intimate stroke of your silent support system the underlying source of breast cancer? Does the underwire trap toxins and prevent the lymphatic system from carrying it's regularly scheduled service?

Ridiculous or Reality?

Believe what you will. I choose to refrain from this debate.

However….
Two substantial slices of metal sit on your chest, sustaining you in a stronghold for a sizable portion of each day. If an unforeseen sequence of events occurs and you are in need of serious intervention, will anyone stop, suspecting that you’re wired? The systems utilized during significantly critical stages of emergency care require electricity.

Silly or Sensible?

Another debatable topic. Again, no swaying debates here!

There is just one more thing to consider....

One Saturday afternoon, I went to the dryer to remove my undergarments. As I shut the door, I felt something cold sweep across my hand. I looked down and there it was…. The underwire was no longer under the sheltering fabric. Ahhh! Surely my eyes deceive me! Look at this! I shouted to my husband. There it was, sticking through the shattered fibers of what used to be a superior bra; or so I thought.

How dangerous is this? I thought

My false sense of security smashed, I knew deep within that I could not continue to subject myself to this potential lung puncturing entity.

Absurd or Astute?

No matter what side you take, my story continues....

Sensitive to my setback, my hubby took a ride with me to our local mall.

What a pleasant surprise!

They had them. Bras without wires. All shapes & sizes; the secret selection.

Surefire Satisfaction!

I seized the moment!

Whether you’re concerned about cancer, banishing the burns, or pitching the puncture potential, here are some wireless options.

So, ladies, Are You Wired?

Apple Pickin'

Excerpt of Apple Tree by Erykah Badu

You see, I picks my friends like I pick my fruit.
My Ganny taught me that when I was only a youth.
I don't walk around tryna be what I'm not.
I don't waste my time tryna get what you got.
I work at pleasin me cause I can't please you.
And that's why I do what I do.
My soul flies free like a willow tree.
doo wee doo wee doo weeeeee...

These days, how many of us really know how to pick fruit? What do you know about ripeness? Firmness? Color? Texture? How many days to leave the crop on the vine?

With no apple pickin’ frame of reference, you will continue to tend to your garden of friends, “associates,” mates and every other aspect of your life with a fast food mentality; only concerned about the speed and resourcefulness that the drive thru has to offer, instead of the quality of the harvest.

Ever wonder why people turn their nose up when you come around or why you’re physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually drained senseless? Ever wonder why you don’t feel loved or appreciated, maybe even stepped on or beat up? Ever wonder why you have aches and pains, sadness and sorrow? Ever wonder why people only tell you their distraught sob stories full of anguish or deceit? Ever wonder why you feel weighed down, listless, endlessly searching for a better day? Stop! and ask yourself if you’ve been selecting spoiled, rotten, stinky, worm filled fruit. The kind with bumps and bruises, moldy membranes, fading vibrancy, lacking any prospect of generating seeds (which indicates the inability to produce new life, you know.)

Stop feeding yourself, your life, and your time thoughtlessly. Replace those prickly vines with flourishing vegetation. New life should be sprouting all around you. So go to the garden and do a thump test. If the quality of the produce in your life is hollow and flavorless, maybe you have some pruning to do.

Frankly, you need to ask yourself a few more questions. Are you a producer or are you the smelly, gnat attracting fruit in the room? Do you infuse energy and light in every situation or do you turn stomachs after one look or conversation? Do you overindulge at the vending machine of eye candy or do you have a discerning, meticulous, and distinguishing palate?

Make sure you bring something to the table of life. Reaping a high quality yield should be your goal. –Hosea 10:12. Don’t just leave the crop of your life to chance. Tend to it. Nurture it. Learn to be selective. Take inventory of all that you’ve gathered, then apply the lessons of Apple Pickin’.

Only In Your Dreams

Have you ever stopped to think about your dreams? How often do you dream? What are you dreaming about? Do you dream about what you’ll eat for lunch tomorrow or the big hairy spider that surprised you in your closet? Do you dream about those you love or those you’ve lost? Do you dream of those jeans that used to fit, or those shoes that scream your name each time you pass by the crystal clear store window? Do your dreams consist of darkness, overshadowed by a hint of gloom? Or are you dreaming of another life in which you are living out everything you truly desire?

I challenge you to focus your dreams! Dream big! Dream with detail! Dream like your life depends on it; as if it were your lifeline. Your dream is your light at the end of the tunnel, holding on by a thread, just by the skin of your teeth (do teeth really have skin?), silver lining in the cloud of your innermost being. Your dreams, your desires, your passions, all propel you into your destiny; or at least they should. It’s what you need to aspire to each and every day. You see, what most people really don’t understand is that the fulfillment of their dreams is one prayer away. It’s terribly unfortunate that most people only view their dreams as just that; an imagined idea that is unattainable or to large to tackle. However, the only thing standing in the way of you and your dream is a little bit of prayer, focus and discipline; and, you of course. Get out of your own way!

Dream….Dream….DREAM! Intentional dreaming will ignite the fire within your soul that will spread to every aspect of your being. As you dream in color and pray about the significance of your aspirations, you will begin to focus your attention, time and effort. You will become disciplined and unstoppable in realizing the dreams you never really thought would come true. You see, God will speak to you in your dreams. It’s usually the only time most of us are quiet enough to hear Him speak anyway. If you tune into His voice, you will soon see that your dreams are not impossible, lifeless, inanimate longings destined to be beyond your reach, because their inspired by God. God gives us the desires of our hearts. -Psalm 37:3-5 (Read it for yourself.)

Then, why do I have these awful dreams full of heartache and pain, death and destruction you ask? Well, there are a few reasons behind this. Either you are running from the dreams you are supposed to be experiencing; you know, too afraid to live the dream. Or, because of your lack of prayer, focus and discipline, your mind is bombarded by nonsense while you are awake and while you dream. What a waste of time?! You are constantly restless and drenched in chaos. You never take the time to understand that you have endless power, potential, and purpose.

Don’t just stand around wondering why someone else has achieved their dream. Don’t ask yourself why no one is helping you get to the place that only you dream about. No one knows, understands, or appreciates your dream like you do. So don’t let the fire go out! Run like wild and ignite a few others along the way.

Let me let you in on a little something… the reason why no one seems to have an answer for you; the reason why your pathway has not been uncovered quite yet; the reason why no one has offered to help you along the way is as follows: no one else has done what you are about to do. No one is capable of comprehending the magnitude of your dream! Only God shares the completed picture of your dream, so stop looking to everyone around you for all the answers. It’s just that simple. Can you believe it? God really made you radically unique and extraordinary! The game plan and the blueprint that He has given to you, has never been seen before. Don’t discount your dreams. Don’t minimize them based on the world’s standards and expectations. Be remarkably astonishing in everything you do and dream. God will not only use those who are not qualified by the world’s measure, but He will also use those who are uncompromising in their faith to exhibit that dreams really do come true.

So stop taking you for granted, and dream. Allow God’s creativity to flow through you and He will paint the canvas of your life in brilliant hues and patterns that are incomprehensible to the world around you. Be vibrant and exude the dynamically rich glow that’s revealed…
Only In Your Dreams.
